The purpose of the dress code is to maintain a positive learning climate, which eliminates unnecessary distractions and promotes self-respect.
Shirts/Tops:
- Any solid color Polo shirts with long or short sleeves and must have a collar.
- Any solid color t-shirt. (long or short sleeved) must be worn under polo only, unless a school program/logo shirt.
- All shirts must be tucked in at all times.
Pants/Slacks:
- Khaki, Only (no denim or jeans style or stretch material)
- Must be fastened securely at the waist with a belt if loops are provided.
- Hemmed appropriately and no rips, holes or tears.
Shorts
- Must be khaki only
- Walking shorts only, full cut style, full length and hemmed (top of the knee)
(A quick test for the correct length of shorts or a skirt is to have the student hold their hands to their side. They are too short if the hem of the shorts/skirt does not reach the fingertips.)
Sweatshirts/Sweaters:
- Any solid color or East Lake Academy logo sweatshirts (no pockets or hoods, please)
- There will be no inappropriate or offensive writing on the clothing.
Shoes:
- No open toe, backless shoes, high heels, slippers, slides or flip-flops.
Outerwear, coats, hats, book bags, backpacks, fanny packs and purses:
- These items must be stored in lockers. They may not be carried or worn from room to room.
· All clothing must be size appropriate.
- Do-rags or other headgear are not allowed. Girls may wear allowable school colored hair bands if worn on hair.
- No more than 2 necklaces or bracelets allowed.
HOODIES:
· Only hoodies sold as school fundraisers may be worn during the school day.
The administration reserves the right to modify the dress code as needed to maintain a positive learning environment. Students coming to school dressed in inappropriate attire will be directed to call home for a change of clothes. If parents cannot be reached, students will be placed in ISS. Repeated violations may result in disciplinary actions including suspension.
