East Lake Academy Wildbots!

East Lake Academy is proud to offer participation to our students in the Robotics Program.  The program, part of the First LEGO League, is designed to allow students to strengthen their engineering skills while integrating STEM education. Students design, build and program robots to perform given tasks. Funded by TVA's Partners in Education program, East Lake Academy is one of 12 Hamilton County Schools that participate.

Robotics teams are comprised of 10 students (male and female) from grades 6 to 8.  Students must go through the try-out process to be selected for the team. Applicants should have good communication skills (written and verbal), be able to think critically to come up with solutions to global issues and, most importantly, be a team player.

Try-outs are early fall and the team immediately begins training for the regional competition in December and state competition in January. Additionally, the team will attend the TVA Robotics Showcase the following spring. Robotics will require after-school practice, at least three times a week in the fall. It is a big commitment but incredibly rewarding for those students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
